About the IT Governance Institute
In this fast-paced information economy, the governance and management of enterprise IT (GEIT) has become a critical facet of effective enterprise governance. Effective GEIT helps ensure that IT supports business goals, optimizes business investment in IT, and appropriately manages IT-related risk and opportunities.
The IT Governance Institute (ITGI) was formed by ISACA in 1998 to advance international thinking on GEIT. ISACA, an association with more than 115,000 constituents in 180 countries, was founded in 1969 and is an advocate for professionals involved in information security, assurance, risk management and governance. ISACA provides GEIT-related guidance through the ISACA Journal, conferences, certifications, education and COBIT, the globally accepted framework that provides a comprehensive business view of GEIT.
Research and Publications
ISACA works through volunteer experts to conduct research on governance of enterprise IT and related topics. Many of the resulting publications are offered for complimentary download from the ISACA web site (see Resource Center page on this site for more details).
ISACA Knowledge Center
To help facilitate the optimal learning that often takes
place in discussions among seasoned experts who gladly share
questions, concerns, experiences, lessons learned and
situations to avoid, ITGI’s affiliated association, ISACA,
established a Knowledge
Center, where ISACA members can provide advice, seek
assistance and raise questions pertinent to a variety of
topics related to the governance of IT. (Some discussion areas
may be open to nonmembers as well.)
